CVA INTRODUCES THE ELECTRAÔ – THE WORLD’S FIRST ELECTRONIC IGNITION MUZZLELOADER

CVA, America’s #1 selling muzzleloading brand, has announced the development of a new muzzleloader that incorporates an electronic ignition. This technology, which CVA has titled “Electronic ARCÔ Ignition” eliminates the need for 209 primers. According to company representatives, the Electra rifle is the most radical innovation to hit the muzzleloading industry in years – the ultimate muzzleloader in terms of ease-of-use, rapid reloading, ease-of-cleaning, and never-fail reliability.

The ARC Electronic Ignition is completely sealed from the elements, as there is not even a flash hole through the breech plug. Therefore, no parts other than the barrel ever have to be cleaned of propellant fouling. The “trigger” is actually an electronic switch, so the trigger pull is incredibly clean. Once the trigger is pulled, because the electric spark is so fast, ignition is absolutely instantaneous, eliminating the age-old problem of “lock time” – a common issue with all primer-ignited muzzleloaders. And, unlike 209 shotgun primer ignitions, there is no primer created explosion to cause displacement of the charge, allowing full and consistent burn of the powder charge in the bottom of the barrel – eliminating one of the major factors that hamper muzzleloading accuracy.

The CVA Electra is powered by a 9-volt lithium battery, which will reliably fire the gun up to 500 times. An on-off switch located behind the trigger guard activates the ARC ignition. Once the system is activated, the gun will be ready to fire in approximately 20 seconds. This 20-second delay also occurs after each shot, allowing ample time to quickly reload the gun before the system rearms. Battery life is not a problem, as the lithium battery will last up to 600 continuous hours (25 days) if left in the “on” mode, and much longer if turned off between hunts or shooting sessions.

All Electra rifles feature a Bergara BarrelÔ, a premium muzzleloading barrel designed and manufactured in consultation with custom barrel maker Ed Shilen. These barrels are far superior to standard production barrels in terms of rifling quality and consistent bore diameter. The combination of the Bergara Barrel with the various accuracy improving aspects inherent in the Electra’s ARC Ignition, provides a potential for unsurpassed muzzleloading accuracy. Barrels are available in either stainless steel or blued steel.

For 2007, the Electra will be available in .50 caliber only and in stocks featuring either RealtreeÒ Hardwoods GreenÔ or Black FiberGrip. These stocks are fully ambidextrous, and are equipped with a QuakeÒ ClawÔ Sling and Crush-ZoneÔ recoil pad as standard equipment. A DuraSightÔ rail scope mount and DuraSightÔ Fiber Optic Sight are also included.
